About LocalVoiceCloning.com
LocalVoiceCloning.com is an independent guide to running voice cloning on your own hardware. We focus on free, open-source tools, clear trade-offs, and practical setup steps — not hype.
What this site covers
We explain local voice cloning, compare open-source tools and engines, and walk through installation, hardware, and long-form narration. The site is aimed at people who want to clone a voice they own or have permission to use without uploading recordings to a cloud service.
Editorial standards
- Primary sources first. Feature claims, licenses, install commands, and hardware requirements are checked against official repositories, documentation, and release notes.
- Dates on facts. Star counts, prices, and platform policies change. We label when a fact was checked and update the page when it materially changes.
- No invented testing. We do not claim hands-on benchmarks we have not run. When a recommendation is based on public documentation or community adoption, we say so.
- Corrections over clicks. If a claim is wrong or a tool changes its license, the correction takes priority over keeping an outdated page live.
Independence and affiliate disclosure
This site is not affiliated with VoiceStudio, ElevenLabs, or any other vendor mentioned in our guides. Some outbound links — including ElevenLabs — are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Recommendations are based on fit for the use case, not on commission rates.
How to read our recommendations
“Best” depends on your hardware, privacy needs, language coverage, and whether you can use a tool commercially. A local tool wins on privacy and long-run cost; a cloud service wins on setup time and peak polish. We try to make those trade-offs explicit instead of pretending one option fits everyone.
About the author
Alex Reed is an independent developer and long-time tinkerer with open-source speech tools. He started this site after watching local voice models go from lab demos to genuinely usable desktop apps — and noticing that almost none of them came with honest, jargon-free setup guides. Every guide on this site follows the editorial standards above.
